WhatsApp announced today that it is introducing the ability for users to use two accounts simultaneously. This means that you can switch between two accounts in the same WhatsApp instance.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature on his site Facebook page He said that the feature will soon be available to users.
Historically, people had to carry two phones to use two WhatsApp accounts. Now, the company allows you to use just one phone for two accounts. Phone manufacturers like Xiaomi and Oppo also have features like app cloning to allow people to make use of multiple WhatsApp statuses.
The company said in a statement: “Useful for switching between accounts – such as work and personal accounts – now you no longer need to log out every time, carry two phones, or worry about messaging from the wrong place.” Blog post.
Users can go to Settings > Add account To add a second account. During setup, you’ll need your second SIM phone, a physical feature phone, or a multi-SIM eSIM. The company said that you will be able to manage separate notifications and privacy settings for each account.
WhatsApp has warned against fake versions of the app to prevent fraud.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out passkey support for the Android version, so users can log into the app without SMS-based two-factor authentication.
