Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and forward Andre Iguodala will likely return on Sunday afternoon as the Warriors take on the Los Angeles Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena.
Curry has missed the last 11 Warriors games after sustaining an injury to his lower left leg against the Dallas Mavericks on February 4. He also missed 11 games earlier in the season with a dislocated right shoulder. Golden State went 13-8 without Curry this season.
“He’s been working hard,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry Thursday. “I think within days of the injury he was on the bike. And it was impressive to watch him on the bike, how hard he worked. He’s really great when it comes to his level of conditioning and his commitment to keeping it high. So he has a good opportunity in the last few days to get up and down. But Before that, he was doing a lot of 1 on 0 training which involved a lot of running and crunching.”
Curry has also been involved in multiple scuffles over the past week with Golden State backup and two-way players. Iguodala was also involved.
Deciding to return for at least his 19th and final season in the NBA, Iguodala missed the first 39 games with what the team described as a left groin injury. He made his season debut on January 8 but was only available for three matches. He has not played since January 13 due to soreness in his right thigh.
With Andrew Wiggins missing his eighth straight game due to a family matter and two-way player Anthony Lamb one game away from the 50-game limit, Iguodala’s presence would give the Warriors much-needed body in the frontcourt.
It is not clear how many minutes Iguodala or Carey will play in the second leg.
