The structure of the European Nations Football Championship meeting is isolated. After the match won by the “Three Lions” (1-0) many fans of the English selection experienced a very difficult return.

They found success despite scaring their team, but then experienced very long hours of waiting and a traumatic situation for some. On the evening of Sunday 16 June, after the Euro 2024 football match between Serbia and England ended (0-1), several thousand English supporters had a very unpleasant experience when leaving the German wall.

They were stuck on tram platforms or around the stadium for long hours, waiting to find a way out of the area, as evidenced by numerous testimonies on social networks.

The reason: It seems that the frequency between the trams was very low, making it very difficult to get 60,000 people out of the stadium.

It’s 12.40am – two hours after the final whistle in Gelsenkirchen – and tens of thousands of fans are still lining up in a huge queue to get a tram from the stadium to the city. It’s not really good. Gelsenkirchen main station is full of fans, but trains are not returning or are delayed. The game ended almost 3 hours ago. pic.twitter.com/7BgYQs4zPr

“It’s 12:40am – almost two hours after the final whistle in Gelsenkirchen – and tens of thousands of supporters are still queuing to take the tram between the stadium and the city,” explains Belfast-based journalist Adrian Rutherford in the X Telegraph. “A security official apologized to the supporters and described it as a ‘disgrace’ to organize the match this evening,” he later recounts.

Some fans, as they return to the city center, make trips to places like Frankfurt and Cologne, where a family with young children is left in tears in confusion.
