All five members of the Spice Girls have reunited, but maybe not in the way you expected.

On Saturday night, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm, known as Posh, Spooky, Baby, Ginger and Sporty Spice, gathered to celebrate Victoria's 50th birthday in London.

The band members celebrated like it was 1997, performing their classic song, Stop.

“I mean come on,” Victoria's husband and former England captain, 48, wrote in his caption.

Victoria responded in the comments, saying: “Best night ever! Happy birthday to me! Love you all so much! #SpiceUpYourLife.”

The hashtag is linked to a song of the same name, released by the Spice Girls during the heyday of the 1990s.

The party, which was reportedly held at Oswald's private members' club in Mayfair, saw celebrity appearances from the likes of Tom Cruise, Salma Hayek, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Gordon Ramsay.

“I can't wait to celebrate with my family and friends! Love you all so much,” the fashion designer wrote.

Beckham and his three sons were wearing tuxedos. Victoria chose a light green dress, while Harper wore a floor-length cream dress.

The band members did not appear to be using microphones during the Christmas performance, but they were seen singing while performing a Stop dance routine together.

Spice Girls fan and comedian Samuel Zernig told BBC News that he “couldn't stop smiling” after watching the video, adding: “Christmas came early.”

He continued: “It's really great to see that 30 years have passed since its founding, and this tiny little video has made international headlines.”

Fans on social media were thrilled to see the five Spice Girls back together for the first time in years, with many commenting on Beckham's post.

One wrote: “David, you are the best social media manager, thank you for providing content to people.”

Another wrote: “The moment the entire planet has been waiting for.”

A third person said: “What my daughter feels about Taylor Swift is how I feel about these girls.”

Other fans pleaded with the band to tour again, with one asking: “Can we have a word about taking this to Glastonbury please?”

Bookmaker Coral has now downgraded the odds on the Spice Girls officially reuniting in 2024 – and performing Glastonbury and a new album in 2025 – following their Christmas concert performance.

Following the release of their chart-topping debut single Wannabe in 1996, 'Spice mania' took the planet by storm, with their slogan dubbed 'Girl Power' – a brand of female empowerment that made them a global pop culture phenomenon.

In total, they scored nine number one hits in the UK, which also included “Say You'll Be There”, “2 Become 1”, “Who Do You Think You Are”, “Spice Your Life” and “Viva Forever”.

Geri Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998 and the group finally broke up in 2001. But they reunited for tours in 2007 and performed at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012. A European tour took place in 2019, but without Victoria.
