For a few days already, two language assistants from Romain-Roland High School, Anna and Sarah, have been making their mark on the Glamizikois. On Monday, October 10, during lunch break, a glass of friendship was shared in the faculty room in the presence of English teacher Emily Jackett. Anna Sneddon and Sara Arias arrived on September 26 and 28, respectively. One is Scottish and the other is Spanish.
Anna, 23, from the north of Scotland (Inverness, a city of 60,000), has completed her studies at Edinburgh University. He completed a four-year course in International Relations. He obtained this position as an English language assistant with the help of the British Council, a government agency in the United Kingdom that aims to establish cultural relations with other countries. Sarah, 24, is from central Spain. He grew up in Cieudad Real and completed his studies as a school teacher at the university. He also earned a master’s degree in Spanish as a foreign language. A government organization helped him get this job with National Education.
Discovery of the city and students
The two young women spend seven months in Glamace. In small groups, they supervise students through English and Spanish lessons. High school students can discover language, accents and cultural aspects. These language exercises are punctuated with games, the aim of which is to help students progress in learning.
Work has already begun and the assistants are satisfied with the students who are “loving, hardworking and attentive”.
Before arriving, they only knew Clamecy by name. But Burgundy does not leave them indifferent. “Here, there are incredible wines,” says Anna. Hosted at the establishment, they plan to return to the country during the Christmas holidays. Clammy’s discovery through some walks allowed them to appreciate the places. “It’s peaceful and beautiful,” they say.
Their contract is over and Anna and Sarah will be looking for work. Anna may be in London. Sarah is on the waiting list to be hired as a home school teacher. However, he points out that the wait is particularly long.
