Taylor Swift isn’t exactly like us, she’s just better. In his first interview since announcing his son Travis Kelce with the “Karma” singer, Ed Kelsey revealed to People magazine The moment that showed him what kind of person Swift is.
“I’ll tell you something very special that I noticed in Taylor when I first met her,” Ed shared with the outlet. “We were sitting in the ward, and she and the front room got up to go get a drink or something and started picking up empty bottles and cans and plates lying around. Because everyone in the wards gets stuff and you empty it wherever you can.
“And I’m just thinking, ‘I don’t think she got the diva memo,'” he continued. “She doesn’t get the spoiled musician vibe. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really said a lot to me.”
In footage from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Published on X (the social platform formerly known as Twitter), Kelce Sr. was seen chatting with Swift. This was the fourth consecutive Kansas City Chiefs game Swift has attended, as the team continues its winning streak.
The father of two called Swift “a very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth young woman,” adding: “She’s very smart. Very mean. And that comes right out.”
Having gone through her own experiences bonding with Swift, Kelsey’s mother, Donna, recently spoke out about criticism that the NFL devotes too much time to the singer while broadcasting their games. “All I can tell you is the NFL is laughing all the way to the bank,” Donna said. “You know what I’m saying? Good for them. They get consequences for everything.”
She noted that she finds it “pretty cool” that young Swift fans are getting into football because of the singer’s interest. “I can tell you this, they personally told me that the Kelseys did more good PR for football than they could have paid a million dollars to a PR company,” Donna confirmed.
The couple themselves appear to be going strong, based on behind-the-scenes photos from Sunday’s game posted by a friend Instagram, and a recent weekend in New York, where the pair were spotted walking hand-in-hand while hanging out in New York City. They also made a surprise appearance during Saturday Night Live. Taylor Swift introduced musical guest, friend and collaborator Ice Spice during her second song of the evening, “Pretty Girl,” with Rima. Meanwhile, Kelce made a cameo in the same episode while host and SNL alum Pete Davidson’s skit, in which he played a sideline reporter obsessed with Swift’s appearance at the Games.
