Shortly after Vince McMahon announced his retirement, AEW and Ring of Honor president Tony Khan, and the actual number two in all professional wrestling, quickly took to social media to tweet message.
That message:
Thank you wrestling fans for your great support AEWI’m grateful to be the longest-serving CEO now in pro wrestling.
Thank you so much to everyone who watches Tweet embed!
See you on Friday night # hashem on me Tweet embed

As you can see from just looking at the interactions on that tweet, a lot of people felt a variety of ways about it. There are multiple ways to read the message in it as well. My partner on this site here, Sean, called him “Relatively harmless and very funny.” I tend to agree. A look through the responses shows that many others felt differently, finding it poorly timed, hateful, and more.
during the death before shame scrum media, had the opportunity to explain his intentions by tweeting (via wrestling inc):
“I was referring to the fact that AEW Rampage was in operation and the fact that of the big companies, which I would consider the ‘Big Three’, is now the longest in service [CEO] naturally. I think if you’re thinking about professional wrestling, that’s a fair statement. I thought it was a factual statement, a note to promote Rampage but that’s all it was. I can’t say anything else about her. Obviously I’m hoping to get some eyeballs on Rampage and I’m really interested in Rampage a lot. On a Friday, I’ll occasionally try to promote Rampage in fun ways.”
A businessman saw an opportunity to do some business, so he did it.
It’s all in the game, right?
