The “Water” singer was nominated alongside ASAKE & Olamide, Burna Boy, Davido featuring Musa Keys and Ayra Starr. Last month, Tyla's hit song peaked at No. 7 Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“I never thought I'd be able to say I won a Grammy when I was 22,” Tayla said as she accepted the award. “Thank you to the Recording Academy for this class. It's very important.”
The Best African Instrumental Performance category is one of three new categories debuting at the 2024 Grammy Awards, along with Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Pop Dance Recording. Australian pop star Kylie Minogue took home the final award for her film “Padam Padam.”
