Tiger Woods has launched his new clothing line with TaylorMade after ending his 27-year relationship with Nike. Woods will start the Genesis Invitational on Thursday wearing the “Sun Day Red” brand, named after his traditional color choice for the final round of the tournament. The logo, a tiger crest, consists of 15 lines, which is the number of major championships the 48-year-old has won.
“This is the right time in my life,” Woods said during the launch event in Los Angeles. “It's a transition. I'm not a kid anymore. I want to have a brand and be proud of moving forward. Red Sunday – it's me. It started with my mom [Kultida]. Being a Capricorn I thought my power color was red, so I wore red as a junior golfer and won a few tournaments.
“Here I was going to a red university, red Stanford. We wore red on the last day of every tournament, and then every tournament I played as a professional I wore red. It became synonymous with me.”
Woods will make his debut in 2024 at Riviera Country Club — in a tournament to benefit his foundation — as he continues his recent comeback from injury. The former world number one underwent ankle surgery last April after withdrawing from the Masters tournament during the third round and did not compete again until the Global Champions Challenge in December.
Woods finished 18th in the 20-man bracket in the Bahamas, but said he was happy with his progress and believes it is realistic to compete in one tournament a month this season.
