A woman attacked three Transportation Security Administration officers at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport on Tuesday, officials said.
The 19-year-old woman was going through the screening process at Checkpoint D in Terminal 4 of the airport when the alleged assault occurred just before 6 a.m., according to ABC 15.
Three officers were injured in the clash and the checkpoint was closed temporarily.
Phoenix police responded to the scene and arrested the woman.
It is not clear what caused the quarrel.
Officials said two TSA officers were hospitalized as a result of the incident and have since been released.
The suspect’s name and the identity of the two officers have not been released.
“This unprovoked and brazen physical attack against our employees is unacceptable. We are grateful to our committed workforce and the role they play in protecting travelers every day,” TSA told ABC 15 in a statement.
“Unfortunately, this situation not only injured three TSA officers, but upset about 450 passengers who had to be redirected to a nearby checkpoint for security screening because of this traveler’s actions.”
