by the time you arrive Final Fantasy XVIEndgame After at least 35 hours, protagonist Clive Rosefield can Summon the power of eight different magical beings called ICONS, each warden a specific element. Phoenix fire offers several different ways to burn enemies, and Shiva’s ice can solidify them. But if you want to be ready for what’s thrown at you at the end of the game, you’ll need to prepare with one very specific build. In fact, it’s such a good build that you can take it on almost any encounter, be it a high-level manhunt or any side quest.
Some of Eikon’s abilities are great for crowd control. Others are ideal for single-target damage. Therefore, the best abilities for any battle depend on what you will be facing. Without spoiling too much, the ultimate challenge of combat is against a single Clive-sized target. It is therefore similar to the battles against the ruler of Walloyd’s kingdom, Lord Sleipnir, or the battle against Odin’s hegemonic Barnabus Thamer. As such, the best combo will focus on counterattacks and damage to the individual target.
With all that in mind, these are the Eikons you’ll want to channel:
If you upgrade all of your Eikonic’s best abilities enough, you’ll be able to equip them regardless of which three Eikons you channel (or equip). The only reason you should root any Eikon device is to take advantage of the Eikonic Feat, the innate feature like Phoenix Shift Teleport.
Channeling Titan is a must, especially against one-on-one enemy battles so you can take advantage of the innate Eikonic Feat Titanic block. Pressing the circle at just the right time triggers a Precision Block that unleashes a triple punch counterattack that refills Clive’s Limit Break gauge at an accelerated pace and deals a large amount of damage.

with Dark armThe Circle button allows Clive to wield Odin’s sword. All attacks charge up the Zantetsuken gauge, building up to a final attack that slows time and deals a large amount of damage.
These are the Eikonic capabilities you want:
- Paid
- Air blast
- Flames rising
- raging fists
- gigaflare
- steel dance
Bahamut Paid It has an additional bonus DPS capability as it sends multiple spheres that track targets and deal continuous damage, and its cooldown is quite reasonable. Whether you’re up against a horde of enemies or a boss, this is a solid option. Garuda Air blast Summons a tornado that does a massive amount of damage, so it’ll attack enemies faster than anything else and track down enemies…just like Impulse!
Phoenix Flames rising A must for any builder at any stage of the game. Despite its lack of damage compared to most other abilities, it has the shortest cooldowns of any attack and is easy to land. Spam as much as possible between normal attacks. Titan raging fists It’s good to pair alongside Rising Flames since it has a modest cooldown that gets reduced by 50% if you perform a well-timed block against enemy attacks. In theory, if you time the blocks well, you should be able to spam both attacks. This gives you the option to counterattack two of your three Eikon channels.
Odin steel dance An excellent ability that summons dual blades for a series of attacks that charge up the Zantetsuken Gauge. For that you will need to direct Odin in order to be able to take advantage of accessing the Zantetsukenwhich is part of the Eikonic Feat that deals a massive amount of damage with two powerful slashes. gigaflare It is hands down Eikonic’s best ability ever. Not only does it have the highest score in raw damage, but it also has a slowdown effect as Clive summons Bahamut wings and blasts enemies in a straight line with a massive beam of energy.
The Final Fantasy gear you’ll need
- Bahamut’s Mercy – Reduces Gigaflare’s cooldown time by 6.0 seconds.
- Genji Gloves – Increases damage dealt to enemies by 5%.
- Berserker Ring – Temporarily increases attack efficiency with each accurate dodge.
Gigaflare’s big drawback is its long cooldown, so gearing up Mercy Bahamut It greatly reduces it. It is a reward for completing the “A Tail to Tell” quest, for which you find a flower that Harpocrates presents to Dion at the end of the game.
All damage increased by 5% with Genji gloves It is also preferred over any other supplement for increased damage. (Most increase a single ability’s damage by 10%.) This is a bonus for reaching 2365 Renown in Patron’s Whisper, so if you’re incapacitated, complete more side quests and hunts so you can earn them from NPC Desiree in the dining hall.

the Berserker ring It’s also an excellent option, as it boosts attack efficiency with each successful pinpoint dribble, something you’ll want to do constantly anyway. It’s Patron’s Whisper’s first award in 85 months. If there’s one item you can replace with something else, it’s this one.
The strategy of bringing it all together in FF16
Always start with Air blast and then Paid. This will eliminate a significant amount of damage that will push the enemy into reeling. And when needed, use Titanic block against any attack that comes your way.
Then it’s time to move on to using Phoenix Flames rising and go to raging fists roadblock. But once you’re done, go straight to Odin and unleash it steel dance. This will charge your Zantetsuken more often. If you managed to make the enemy reel, now is the time to explode gigaflare. Otherwise, you can also use Odin’s Arm of Darkness for a while, focusing on Flash of Steel’s accuracy of dodging counterattack and Steel Counter parry. (This is where Berserker’s ring will come in handy) Zantetsuken As soon as you are ready. And keep showing off your abilities in this way.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a more effective combat flow than this for dealing with just about anything Final Fantasy XVI You can throw your way.
