BAY LAKE, Fla. — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said a bear sighting at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park on Monday prompted the closure of several rides and attractions at the park.

An adult female black bear was seen in a tree at Magic Kingdom on Monday morning, the FWC said.
“Biologists with the FWC’s Bear Management Program as well as law enforcement officers were able to safely capture the adult female bear,” an FWC spokeswoman said. “In most cases, it is best to give bears space and move on their own, but in light of this situation, staff captured the animal and moved the bear out of the park to an area in or around the Ocala National Forest.”
The agency said bears are most active during the fall as they search for food to accumulate fat reserves for the winter.

“It is likely that this particular bear was moving through the area in search of food,” the spokeswoman said.
More than a dozen rides and attractions were closed Monday during viewings, according to the Disney app.
A company spokesperson said the park has since fully reopened.

“We are working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and have made the decision to reopen Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park,” the spokesperson said.
If you see a bear in the wild, give it space and never approach or feed it, the FWC said.
If you ever notice someone who is a threat, sick or injured, you can call the FWC at 888-404-3922.
