Summary of “New Amsterdam” Season 5, Episode 10 [Spoiler] yields

New AmsterdamThe fall finale delivered on showrunner David Schulner’s promise to TVLine that we’d never see another Freema Agyeman as Dr. Helen Sharpe.

The actress — who exited the NBC drama at the end of season 4 but lent her voice to a breakup message in the season 5 opener — made an unexpectedly early comeback at the end of Tuesday’s back-to-back episodes. (Raise your hand if you think Helen won’t reappear until the end of the series.)

Helen’s appearance comes at a defining moment in the burgeoning relationship between her ex-fiancé Max and his potential new love interest, Dr. Elizabeth Wilder. Needless to say, the shock of seeing Helen again, even just on TV, would have major ramifications for Max’s personal life.

“We knew we wanted to bring Helen Sharp back to test Max’s resolve. To test his feelings for Wilder. To test whether or not he was truly healed,” showrunner David Schulner told TVLine. “And we knew we wanted it to happen at the worst possible moment for him. him”, when Elisabeth finally changes her mind and comes to Max to romantically make up for it.
