Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games is launching a ship bundle for its controversial $48,000 space simulator.
Revealed on its website, the Legatus 2953 bundle will arrive in the first quarter of 2024 and cost $48,000 despite the game not being officially released yet.
“Above all others, this ultimate fleet rewards the noble title Legatus Navium,” Legatus 2953 Item page is reading. “Comprised of over 175 ships from every known manufacturer, including all ships issued and designed up to the year 2953, this exemplary collection enables each fleet commander to forge a lasting legacy, leading humanity towards a brighter future.”
To add to the price, the Legatus 2953 bundle is only available to members of Star Citizen's Chief's Club, which can only be subscribed to after spending $1,000 on other in-game items.
Star Citizen is one of the most controversial projects in all of video games. Over the years, it has been called many things, including a scam by those wondering if it would ever launch properly.
What is undeniable is the huge amount of money raised so far by Star Citizen, CIG Displayed on their website. At the time of publishing this article, Star Citizen has raised $658,161,596 from over five million accounts.
