At least one person was killed and others were injured, today, Thursday, in a shooting incident on a highway in the occupied West Bank on the outskirts of Jerusalem, according to Israeli authorities.

The Magen David Adom emergency rescue service said that a man in his twenties was killed in the accident. She added that five others were injured by bullets, including a woman in her twenties who was in serious condition.

Magen David Adom said that a sixth person was also injured, but it did not specify how she was injured.

The Israeli police said in a statement that three gunmen opened fire near the leader checkpoint after arriving in vehicles from the direction of the Maale Adumim settlement towards Jerusalem.

The shooting occurred near the Israeli settlement of Maale Adumim.

The statement said they “began firing M-16 automatic weapons at civilians in vehicles” that were waiting in traffic.
