On ABC’s TCA Day on Wednesday, actors were asked how she played in the room when Bronson, EP and ABC comedy star, kissed her first Emmy with Kimmel lying motionless under her. Co-star Lisa Ann Walter thought it was a “funny play,” but Ralph, who won an Emmy on Monday, didn’t have any of it.
“I was confused,” she told reporters. “I didn’t know what was going on. I wish this guy would get off the floor. Then I realized it was Jimmy Kimmel. Oh, disrespect, Jimmy! But that’s just me. I also told him in the face. He understood.”
“The Emmy winner just got so bold!” Walters replied.
For those who missed the gimmick, Will Arnett dragged the star of the night upstage for a bit before announcing the winner for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. Bronson won, but Kimmel — who said nothing during the entire sitcom but gave the Emmy winner a thumbs up — chose to stay put. Bronson even tried to wake him up by saying “Jimmy, wake up. I won,” but he didn’t budge.
Behind the scenes, Bronson said she doesn’t mind very Many.
“I don’t know. I know Jimmy Kimmel. The thing didn’t bother me. Honestly, Jimmy gave me my first big late night spot, and he was one of the first people to see Abbott Elementary. He was the first person to message me on Instagram. He was so excited it was going to be on ABC. I was glad it was Jimmy. He is one of the godfathers of comedy. Tomorrow I will probably be angry with him.”
Bronson is scheduled to appear on The Kimmel Show tonight. “I’m going to record it right after that. It will be an old fashioned conversation,” she told reporters today. “I think it will be a good time. You’ll have to tune in and watch.”
