In previous years, Coachella was known to release specific times after most major times festivals – With the reveal coming on the Monday or Tuesday before the weekend. With two years canceled due to the pandemic, the festival has undergone major lineup changes for the 2022 event, including dropping Travis Scott after his own festival, Astroworld, which left several dead due to crushing crowds. Plus, late-game leader Kanye West pulled out of the event just weeks before it was due to kick off.
