As Mercedes Mooney's future destination continues to be determined, Dave Meltzer speaks out Wrestling Monitor Radio On why talks between WWE and former Sasha Banks failed. Meltzer explained:
She was totally negotiating with WWE. From what I was told, they were far apart when it came to money. […] Many people have told us that they are spaced out when it comes to money. And this is the same thing from a year ago, if you remember, before she went to New Japan and when there was all the talk that she might come back when Vince comes back. [McMahon] He went and [Paul] Levesque was there.
“And ultimately, they didn't make the deal a year ago because she asked for — the way it was explained — Charlotte Flair's money, and they weren't going to go that far. And also, the other thing with 'She's got other things, whether it's acting or other companies that she's involved in This could be a problem. “With AEW, I think she'll have more acting freedom, although WWE will probably give you more freedom now than that.” They would have done that under Vince when Vince was a controlling person, but maybe not.
“We don't know how true it is, but there's definitely a lot of talk about it in AEW. We'll see what happens.”
However, Meltzer also stressed that a WWE source told him not to completely rule out Moon's return, using the recent signing of CM Punk as an example. He said:
“There's one person in WWE who said, 'Until she shows up and until you hear that she's signed, just remember what happened with her.' [CM] punk.' […] You know, when they say it's done and they tell everyone it's done.”
However, reports indicate that Moné is expected to join All Elite Wrestling.
