Earlier this week, we revealed how a trained team dubbed “Team 0%” was trying to complete every community level in the original Super Mario Maker before Nintendo shut down the online functionality of the Wii U and 3DS on April 8, 2024.
While struggling to beat a final level called “Trimming the Herbs”, the story has since taken a bit of a turn – with that level's creator confirming it to be an “illegitimate upload” (Thanks, Oat Dom). Therefore, the final community level was actually “The Last Dance”, which was canceled by “Yamada_SMM2” in March 15, 2024.
This means that every community level in the game has now been cleared. Mission completed! Here's part of what the team behind the effort said in the update:
“Trimming the Herbs was actually a TAS (Tool Assisted Awesome Game), making 'The Last Dance' the final level passed!”
To reach this point, the Mario Maker community had to surpass 25,000 unbeaten levels since last October. This is once again a tremendous achievement!
That's it, guys! The Wii U and 3DS online services will be discontinued next month in April. If you have any last-minute things you want to do while the service is still active, now's a good time to fire up those old Nintendo hardware. You can learn more about shutdown in our guide:
