Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan supported an event very close to their hearts today: the Invictus Games organised by the Duke of Sussex.
The couple arrived for a training session with Colombia’s Invictus Games team on Friday afternoon at the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center in Bogota, where they were warmly greeted by several military officials and a military band. While there, they toured the facility, including the swimming pool, rock climbing gym and rehabilitation facilities. They also met Team Colombia athletes during a seated volleyball game and were able to see the center’s transport simulation room.
The Duchess looked her best sporty chic look on her engagement day. The look consisted of a chic white Giuliva Heritage shirt tucked into a cream maxi skirt covered in a black circular print. Meghan completed the chic look with brown Jimmy Choo sandals and gold drop earrings from Ecksand.
Harry kept his look casual in a black Vince polo shirt, grey Banana Republic jeans, and grey Vince sneakers.
“It is amazing to see how many people can come together to form a team,” the Duke told a member of Team Invictus during a tour of the centre’s cardiovascular room.
The Duchess also expressed her admiration for seeing all the athletes competing, saying: “They are all absolutely fantastic.”
Harry and Meghan were also able to visit the centre’s Art Gallery, which features artwork by Team Invictus athletes. Meghan received a painting and hand-knitted animals, as well as a beaded necklace and matching earrings designed by some of the artists.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also sat down with Vice President Francia Marquez and her partner Rafael Yerni Pinello for a game of volleyball. At the end, Pinello and the Duke took part in the game as the Vice President and Duchess cheered from the bench. After the game, Harry made sure to greet a group of Korean War veterans who were very happy to see him.
Later, the Prince received a special commemorative plaque from the Department of Veterans of National Defence. One of the athletes presenting the gift to Harry said: “To Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. In appreciation and gratitude for your dedication and valuable opportunities for recovery through sport and the Invictus Games for wounded, injured and sick members of the Colombian Armed Forces and Police, or veterans.”
The afternoon’s activity came after Meghan and Harry spent the morning visiting Colegio La Giralda, a school in Bogotá, where they stopped by an art class, played with kindergarten students, helped plant trees in the institution’s backyard, visited the school’s social-emotional gym, and participated in various stations with student administrators.
