Netflix lit the movie green Earlier this year, with Jason Bloom and Blumhouse Television banner on board for the production. It’s unclear why the two companies are leaving “Absolute Dominion,” but the filmmaking team is seeking a new distribution. Principal photography took place this spring in Nevada. The project has already finished filming, and is now in post-production.
“Bill and Ted” actor Alex Winter, Patton Oswalt and newcomer Desiree Mia star in the violent post-apocalyptic thriller, set in the year 2085 after a religious war ravages the world. Alexander, the former world kickboxing champion, also wrote and co-produced Absolute Dominion. She previously directed the 2005 movie “Green Street Hooligans” starring Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam, as well as the Marvels movie “Punisher: War Zone” with Ray Stevenson and Dominic West. Alexander’s first short film “Johnny Flinton” earned an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. Before Alexander turned to the film industry, she was in the lead role in the movie “Mortal Kombat: Live Tour”.
The band includes newcomer actors Fabiano Fett, Julie Ann Emery (“Better Call Saul”), singer-songwriter Andy Allo (“The Game”) and Alok Fayed Menon. Acrobatics coordinator Phil Tan, a martial arts expert whose on-screen credits include “Inception” and “Pirates of the Caribbean,” has overseen the martial arts choreography.
