I rented Michigan Milan (Mimi) Bolden Morriswho recently finished her basketball career in Georgetown, to work as an alumni assistant working with Wolverines quarterback players.

She is the first woman to serve as a graduate assistant in the Big Ten.
“I have always believed in providing opportunities for people who are passionate about football, and Mimi is someone who has demonstrated that drive to become a football coach,” Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said in a statement. “Mimi reached out and expressed an interest in our alumni assistant positions when we had several positions this spring. We had some great conversations and she came out very impressed with her desire and ideas for coaching, and for making us even better as a team. Mimi is a very smart, smart and competitive young woman who will be a great addition to our program and offensive coaching staff. Looking forward to Mimi’s transition to this role working with his midfielders. We can’t wait to see the new perspective she brings to our squad.”
Bolden Morris will earn a master’s degree in sports management in May and is considering the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy or the Michigan School of Social Work. She transferred from Boston College to Georgetown as a graduate student in the middle of the 2020-21 season and was a starting guard for Hoyas last season.
Michigan said Bolden Morris is the first woman to graduate as an assistant coach in the Power 5 program. However, the Associated Press reported later on Tuesday that Carol White worked with kickers at Georgia Tech in the 1980s.
“It speaks volumes about the efforts that Coach Harpo has put in to create an environment of inclusion,” Bolden Morris, a native of Belle Glade, Florida, said in the statement. “These opportunities were odd for a black woman until recently. I grew up watching my father coach my brother, it was always my dream to be part of a football team in some form, so this opportunity allows me to live my dream, especially working with the midfielders. Coming From the world of basketball, goalkeepers and midfielders are one in the same. Both have the ability to make decisions under duress, read defenses, look after the ball, and execute with precision and accuracy.”
Bolden Morris has started all 29 of his games for Hoyas this season, averaging 35 minutes. She led the team in scoring with 12.6 points per game, as 83 out of 123 baskets came from outside the three-point line. She led her 83 three-pointers Big East. After joining the team in January 2021, Bolden Morris appeared in 15 games and started in 13. She was Hoyas’ second leading scorer with 9.5 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per competition, dropping her top 24 three-pointers. .
Before joining Georgetown, Bolden Morris averaged 7.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in three seasons at Boston College. She made 85 appearances with 31 starts and scored with double figures in 29 of those matches.
