Mike Tyson says he has to be careful when he unleashes his inner killer on Jake Paul during their rescheduled bout on November 15.
While appearing on Paul Logan’s brother’s show Reckless PodcastTyson explained that he is still “haunted” by his dark side because it led to him being put in handcuffs.
Tyson’s comments come after Logan said fans are looking forward to seeing the evil version of Tyson and “the killer come out” in his boxing return.
“Sure, it’s going to happen, but here’s what I’ve learned from past experiences – when that tough guy Mike Tyson comes out when he doesn’t have to come out, I’m always in handcuffs,” Tyson, 58, said.
“So, I’m always careful when that guy comes out. Every time I drink or get ready to fight, I get handcuffed.
“Unfortunately, I have to fight and be that man. I wish I could stop him. This man is chasing me. I wish I could stop him. I wish this man was dead, but he is here to stay.”
Tyson explained how that killer version of himself “wants to come back every second of my life.”
“It’s very easy for him to come back,” he said.
Tyson added that he “gets rid of this guy” through his love for his children and family.
Elsewhere in the interview, Tyson said he doesn’t view Jake, 27, as a YouTuber or internet personality.
“I see him as a killer. That’s how I look at him,” Tyson said.
The boxing legend confirmed that he had overcome the ulcer problem he suffered from, which caused the postponement of their fight, which was initially scheduled for last month.
Tyson had a health problem last May when he developed a stomach ulcer while on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles.
The fighters met Sunday at a press conference at the Javits Center as part of Fanatics Fest in New York.
The fight between Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) and Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) will take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas, and will be streamed live exclusively on Netflix.
This will be Tyson’s first professional boxing match since 2005.
