OL is close to completing the arrival of an English nugget.
The summer transfer window continues in full swing in France since it opened on June 10. Away from Germany and Euro 2024, French clubs are devoting their summer to training their new squads for next season. Such is the case with Olympique Lyonnais. The Rhone club has been more or less successful and should welcome an English paceman in its squad in the coming days.
OL’s unique transfer window
OL started their transfer window at the tip. That’s normal, especially since the Rhone club don’t have enough resources to hit the transfer market this summer. But Lyon have the European Cup to play for next season and are therefore forced to strengthen in key positions.
If the sale of OL Reign could help the club replenish its coffers, Kones did not look too far ahead and exercised purchase options on some players on loan. This is how Benrahma and Ernest Nuama became permanently Lyonised.
OL stole Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez from Europe
Apart from these, Thiago Almada, who is due to join Rhône next winter after a spell at Botafogo, another club owned by John Dexter, has completed the Copa Olympique Lyonnais. Meanwhile, it is in the Premier League that OL have made a new reinforcement in the person of Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the English nugget (16 years old) has already been found even with Leon. The England striker reportedly turned down offers from England and Italy while playing with Southampton U18s. If the details of the transfer haven’t filtered down yet, Alejandro Gomez Rodriguez should join the OL as a free agent.
