Apple is partnering with Universal to bring the movie to the big screen
Argylle, a new world-wide spy adventure from director Matthew Vaughn, comes to cinemas in 2024.
The film, produced by Apple Original Films and distributed by Universal Pictures, will hit the big screen on February 2 before airing on Apple TV+ at a later date.
“Argylle” follows Henry Cavill as a super spy whose job takes him across the United States, London, and other exotic locations. He plays an amnesiac secret agent who is tricked into believing he is a novelist. The star-studded cast also includes Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Katharine O’Hara, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Vaughn’s UK-based studio Marv is already planning at least three films in the franchise, which is based on the debut novel of the same name by first-time author Ellie Conway.
“When I read this early draft of the manuscript, it felt like it was the most incredible original spy franchise since Ian Fleming wrote it in the 1950s,” Vaughan previously said of the thriller. “This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”
Jason Fox wrote the screenplay. The film is produced by Cloudy Productions and Vaughn’s regular collaborators Adam Bohling and David Reid, as well as Fuchs. Ziggy Camassa, Carlos Perez, Claudia Vaughn, and Adam Fischbach serve as executive producers.
As Apple continues to build its slate of films, the company has partnered with traditional studios to bring their films to theaters. Paramount is distributing Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in October. Sony is releasing Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon,” which features Joaquin Phoenix as a French military leader, in November.
Other upcoming Apple films include the Formula 1 racing film starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski. and “Provocateurs” led by Matt Damon and Casey Affleck.
