In keeping with tradition, nominees from across the Oscars' 23 categories — along with additional nominees, members of the Academy's Board of Governors and a handful of journalists also in the room — were gathered in the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. In contrast to Oscar night itself, nominees tend to feel less nervous during the luncheon, where they are deliberately seated with nominees from other categories and films, and in which everyone leaves a winner. Academy President Janet Yang She welcomed attendees to her “awards season highlights.” Unfortunately, it provided a reminder that the 96th Academy Awards on March 10 will start an hour earlier than usual, at 4 p.m. PT, and that daylight saving time will start on the same day, meaning people should double-check their clocks.
