Lori Petty and Bobby Moynihan Join CBS’ NCIS: Origins

Lori Petty and Bobby Moynihan have joined the cast of CBS’s upcoming prequel series “NCIS: Origins.” The actors will join a cast that also includes Austin Stowell, Kyle Schmid, Tayla Abercrombie, Michael Molyneux, Diane Rodriguez and Caleb Foote, with Mark Harmon serving as narrator.

In the series, Beatty will play Dr. Lenora Friedman, “a seasoned pathologist at the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office. She is as comfortable working with the dead as she is with the living, and her passion for the job is infectious.” She is joined by Moynihan as Woodrow “Woody” Brown, “a very overworked senior chemist and director of the NIS Forensic Science Lab, who makes up for his lack of sleep with a quirky sense of humor.”

“NCIS: Origins” began production last Monday and is set to premiere Monday, October 14 at 9 p.m. ET. The series follows young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Stowell, playing the role Harmon made famous) in 1991, years before the events of NCIS. “In the series, Gibbs begins his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office, where he establishes his place on a strong and diverse team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks (Schmid).”

Betty most recently appeared in the HBO Max series “Station Eleven.” She has also appeared in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” Bill Burr’s sketch comedy series “Immoral Compass,” Netflix’s comedy “Obliterated,” Pop TV’s “Swedish Dicks,” and Fox’s “Gotham.” She will next appear in the independent film “Tonic.” Betty’s other credits include “Point Break,” “A League of Their Own,” “Tank Girl,” “Free Willy,” and “Poetic Justice.” On stage, she recently directed the play “Trial” at Actors Theatre of America.
