L’Isle-Jourdain: meeting in English among high school and school students

The final year students who teach Languages, Literature and Foreign Cultures in English at the Lycée Joseph-Saverne, accompanied by their teacher Ms. Viguié and Ms. Teyssèdre, documentary filmmaker, visited the students of René Primary School -Cassin. Upstream, young people prepared multi-voiced readings of children’s stories, “in English of course”. Therefore, in each class of the school, a group of “adults” entered and some read the text of the selected album, before the children the pages with props (animal heads, panels with disguises …) and sometimes with sound effects. The children were informed about this visit, but they were very impressed.

Very wisely, they asked. Later, high school students were asked questions to see if they understood the story correctly. For their part, the high school students were intimidated at first (an oral presentation in front of children remains a dangerous exercise), but they were warmly welcomed by the teachers of each class. Before leaving, they gave away some of their belongings as souvenirs. Some objects allow vocabulary corrections.
