The workings of Anglo-Saxon legal systems differ profoundly from common law systems, mainly those of the United Kingdom and the United States, from civil law systems, particularly French law. The purpose of this work is not to provide an English language course, but to help French and French-speaking judges understand the workings of Anglo-Saxon legal systems, although discourse information is provided. A presentation of these systems and an explanation of the key principles underlying them will help to understand the basics and provide keys to understanding. The book will finally allow students to practice English by providing files in English on topics such as the US Constitution or abortion in the US. Strong points – Allow French and French-speaking students to understand and know the workings of common law legal systems – Compare the institutions of the United Kingdom and the United States with our French system – A practical approach: history, powers, place in the world – English by providing students with files in English on themes close to them Let’s Practice: Contracts in American Law, Evolution of Civil Trial in America, Evolution of a Trial Criminal Law in America (Sitcom vs. Reality), Role of Lawyers (Difference Solicitor/Barrister), English Law Contracts
