Leaked Pixel 9a images hint at camera bar removal, more

We’re still gathering ideas after the Pixel 9 launch, but a new leak of alleged Pixel 9a images gives us an idea of what the new A-series devices could offer.

Photos shared in a now-deleted post on a private page. Vietnamese pixel lovers facebook group Then it was shared by ShrimpApplePro on X (formerly Twitter) Hinting that we may see a slight divergence in the flagship and A-series model lineup in the future.

First, we should take these images with a grain of salt. There have been very few leaks or details available about the Pixel 9a. And as always with early leaks, these images aren’t always well-framed or of the highest resolution. However, if they are accurate, it seems like Google will either remove the camera bar from the Pixel 9a or simply take it down.

The dual camera setup with a shiny ring around the setup mimics the circular floating camera bar on the Pixel 9 series. The LED flash is located on the right side and is absent from this section. However, these leaked images suggest that the Pixel 9a’s camera system may sit flat with the frame rather than protruding from the back of the device. This would be the first major design that hasn’t jumped from the flagship lineup to the A series since the Pixel 4a shipped with a single-camera system. Removing the camera bar could help separate the lineup and offer cost savings.

This leak also suggests that the Pixel 9a will adopt, as you might expect, the boxy aesthetic of the Pixel 9 series. There are flat side rails, and the SIM tray appears to be moved down the bottom edge like the latest flagship lineup. It’s hard to tell if the display bezels are uniform across the board, but the bezels are quite prominent compared to the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro.

The only other notable aspect is the color. While the lighting of this leak makes it hard to tell, the Pixel 9a image does appear to have a matte back panel and matte side rails. It wouldn’t be unusual for Google to do that this time around, too.

It’s not yet clear when we’ll see the Pixel 9a, but this could be the first leak of an upcoming device from Google so far.

ShrimpApplePro also shared more information that the Pixel 9a could launch “at the end of this year,” and will come in four colors, including a “silver” option. Again, we’d take this information with a grain of salt, given that the Pixel 8a launched just two months ago ahead of Google I/O.

What do you think of these possible early leaks? Let us know in the comments section below.
