Lady Gaga pre-records her Olympic opening ceremony performance

Lady Gaga pre-records her Olympic opening ceremony performance

Although Lady Gaga opened the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Friday in dazzling style, her performance was pre-recorded.

The Grammy-winning singer managed to overcome technical difficulties and stormy weather as rain fell along the Seine River during her performance of “Mon Truc en Plumes” in tribute to French star Zizi Jeanmaire, but the performance was reportedly held hours before the song was due to air.

According to the News agencyGaga was seen warming up on stage about three hours before the show began and then performing for about an hour. She waved to the fans as she exited the stage.

“The choreographer of the Olympic and Paralympic Games opening ceremony, Maud Le Bladec, said: diverse Gaga’s surprise performance was the only one that “for safety reasons, we had to pre-record late in the afternoon, once we knew for sure it was going to rain – we had minute-by-minute updates, we had never watched the weather forecast so closely in our lives.

“We assessed it and found that it would be very dangerous for the performers, even with a few drops of rain. [Gaga] We wanted to do just that, so we preferred to pre-register it rather than cancel it.

“The ground was slippery. She was wearing high heels, she was very close to the water, there were stairs… we had to be very careful,” Bladeck added.

Gaga reportedly watched the show on screen from her dressing room before heading back to her hotel and sharing a heartfelt statement about the experience. “I feel so grateful to have been asked to open the Paris 2024 Olympics this year,” she wrote in part of X. “I am also humbled that the Olympic organizing committee has asked me to sing such a special French song — a song to honor the French people and their incredible history in art, music and theater.”

“Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with the French people and French music, and I wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France, celebrate French art and music, and on such a momentous occasion remind everyone of one of the most magical cities on earth – Paris,” Gaga added.
