Magali Barre from Thebes, who is currently pursuing a degree in English Studies in the US, is a testament to the valuable support for Oxford students. Prospective high school graduates have until May 31 to apply.
Originally from Thebes, Magali Barre benefits from the support of the Groupe Debeche Foundation, which provides students with welcome scholarships for material assistance and valuable sponsorship to continue their studies. After a general bachelor’s degree specializing in LLCE English and Mathematics, Magali started a course in preparatory class. He is currently in the third year of his degree at Buffalo State University, USA. Magali is developing her professional plan to become an English teacher.
Magali, how did you find out about the Group Depeche Foundation?
I learned about the Group Depeche Foundation thanks to my senior year teacher who sent us all the information we needed to know to apply for the scholarship.
Did being a winner open doors for you?
Yes, especially thanks to my teacher who informed me about opportunities like Toulouse France – United States Association and scholarship to go to America.
Between scholarships and sponsorships, which do you think is more important in the support provided by the Groupe Dépêche Foundation?
The most important is material aid, which cannot be ignored. However, I developed a strong bond with my teacher who has been a real support in my journey.
Can you introduce yourself in a few lines?
My name is Magali Barre, I grew up in the Pyrenees and I took a General BAC specializing in LLCE English and Mathematics at Paul Mathou High School in Gordon-Pollignan. I am part of the 2021 generation of winners and have benefited from the foundation’s support.
For my first two years of higher education, I enrolled in the B/L preparatory class in Toulouse and am currently pursuing a third year of undergraduate studies in the US thanks to bilateral conferences between Toulouse University Jean-Jarres and Buffalo State University. . I plan to become an English teacher in secondary education.
What advice would you give to a high school student preparing for a bachelor’s degree and who might apply?
Don’t hesitate to apply! Of course the application file requires minimal involvement, but there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain! As for speaking, you should not be afraid of it, it is an exchange in a welcoming atmosphere.
