Jamie Lee Curtis, in which he was born hollywood royalty, It chimes in the “child nepotism” dialogue.
The 64-year-old “Halloween” actress and daughter of “Psycho” actress Janet Leigh and “Some Like It Hot” actor Tony Curtis got in on the conversation about new kids — referring to kids who put their feet in the door to jobs or industries like entertainment because of their successful parents — harming In a post on Friday on Instagram.
“I’ve been a professional actress since I was 19, and that makes me the OG Nepo Baby,” Curtis began captioning a baby photo, pictured with her family on Instagram.
Curtis, who cut her teeth out of acting with her 1978 debut as Laurie Strode in the horror flick “Halloween,” said she’ll never understand why she was hired into showbiz in the first place, but she’s remembered for her distinction as the daughter of movie stars daily.
“The current conversation around newborns is only designed to try to belittle, distort and hurt,” the actress wrote.
Curtis’ comments come in the wake of dubbing New York Magazine 2022 “Year of the Nebo Child” In a cover story published Monday that rocked the internet. The issue featured famous babies born to Hollywood stars like Lily Rose Depp, Dakota Johnson, Ben Platt, and Zoe Kravitz, among others, edited on baby bodies with the caption: “She has the eyes of her mother and an agent.”
But Curtis is convinced that talent can speak for itself, no matter how famous one’s parents are.
“It is strange how we immediately make the sordid assumptions and observations that someone related to another person who is famous in their field for their art, somehow would have no talent whatsoever,” Curtis continued, justifying and defending her famous platform.
“I’ve been fit in and out in all different kinds of work with thousands of thousands of people and every single day I’ve tried to bring integrity, professionalism, love, community and art to my work. I’m not alone. There are many of us. Dedicated to our craft. We are proud of our lineage. A strong belief in our right to exist,” she said. .
Curtis, who calls herself an “OG nepo baby,” concluded the post with a call to “be kind” to her fellow celebrity parents.
So, in these difficult days of so much rage in the world, we can just try to find that quiet voice that the great movie Everything Everywhere reminds us of, and like my friend @robreynoldsstudio reminds us, a note to self: be nice, be nice, be nice. ”
