The Vision Pro’s stunning design features an ultra-high-resolution display system that packs 23 million pixels across two screens, and custom Apple silicon in a unique dual-chip design to ensure every experience feels like it’s happening in front of the user’s eyes in real time.
“Today marks the beginning of a new era for computing,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “Just as the Mac introduced us to personal computing, and the iPhone introduced us to mobile computing, Apple Vision Pro introduces us to spatial computing. Built on decades of Apple innovation, Vision Pro is years ahead unlike anything created before — with a revolutionary input system New and thousands of groundbreaking innovations. It opens up amazing experiences for our users and exciting new opportunities for our developers.”
“Building our first spatial computer required invention across nearly every aspect of the system,” said Mike Rockwell, Apple’s vice president of Technology Development Group. “Through close integration of hardware and software, we have designed an autonomous spatial computer in a compact, wearable form factor that is the most advanced personal electronic device ever.”
Unusual new experiences
Apple Vision Pro introduces a new dimension to powerful personal computing by transforming the way users interact with their favorite apps, capture and relive memories, enjoy amazing TV shows and movies, and connect with others in FaceTime.
An endless palette of applications for work and homeVisionOS features a 3D interface that frees apps from the boundaries of the screen so they appear side by side at any scale. Apple Vision Pro enables users to be more productive, with infinite screen space, access to their favorite apps, and all-new ways to multitask. And with Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad support, users can set up the perfect workspace or wirelessly bring the powerful capabilities of their Mac to Vision Pro, creating a massive, private, portable 4K display with incredibly crisp text.
Enjoy entertaining experiences: With two HD displays, Apple Vision Pro can turn any space into a personal movie theater with a screen 100 feet wide and an advanced spatial sound system. Users can watch movies and TV shows, or enjoy amazing 3D movies. Apple Immersive Video delivers up to 180-degree high-resolution recordings with spatial audio, and users can access an exciting collection of immersive videos that take them to entirely new places.
Spatial computing makes new types of games possible with titles that can span the spectrum of immersion and bring players into entirely new worlds. Users can also play over 100 Apple Arcade games on as big a screen as they want, with amazingly immersive sound and support for popular game controllers.
immersive environments: With environments, a user’s world can transcend the dimensions of an actual room with a dynamic and beautiful landscape that can help them focus or reduce clutter in crowded places. The evolution of the Digital Crown allows the user to control how much they are present or integrated into the environment.
Memories come aliveFeaturing Apple’s first 3D camera, Apple Vision Pro allows users to capture, relive and immerse themselves in their favorite memories with Spatial Audio. Each spatial photo and video transports users to a moment in time, such as a celebration with friends or a special family gathering. Users can access their entire photo library on iCloud, viewing their photos and videos at a life-size scale with vivid color and stunning detail. Every panorama shot on iPhone expands and wraps around the user, creating the sense that they are standing where it was taken.
FaceTime becomes spatial: With Apple Vision Pro, FaceTime calls take advantage of the room around the user, as each person in the call is reflected in life-size tiles, as well as spatial audio, so it appears as if the participants are speaking directly from where they are. Users wearing Vision Pro during a FaceTime call mirror themselves as a avatar — a digital representation of themselves created using Apple’s most advanced machine learning techniques — that mirrors their face and hand movements in real time. Users can do things together like watch a movie, browse photos, or collaborate on a presentation.
More app experiencesApple Vision Pro has an all-new App Store where users can discover apps and content from developers, and access hundreds of thousands of familiar iPhone and iPad apps that work great and work automatically with Vision Pro’s new input system. The Apple developer community can go further and leverage the powerful and unique capabilities of Vision Pro and VisionOS to design entirely new app experiences, reimagining existing experiences for spatial computing.
Advanced operating system and user interface
Building on decades of engineering innovation in macOS, iOS, and iPadOS, VisionOS is built from the ground up to support the low-latency demands of spatial computing. The result is a revolutionary operating system that delivers powerful spatial experiences that can take advantage of the space around a user, unlocking new opportunities at work and at home.
VisionOS features an all-new 3D interface that makes digital content appear to exist in the user’s physical world. By dynamically responding to natural light and casting shadows, it helps the user understand scale and distance. To enable user navigation and interaction with spatial content, Apple Vision Pro introduces an entirely new input system controlled by a person’s eyes, hands, and voice. Users can browse apps just by looking at them, flick their finger to select, flick their wrist to scroll, or use voice to dictate.
Apple Vision Pro also features EyeSight, an exceptional innovation that helps users stay connected to those around them. When a person approaches someone wearing the Vision Pro, the device feels transparent – allowing the user to see while also showing the user’s eyes. When a user is immersed in an environment or using an app, EyeSight gives visual cues to others about what the user is focusing on.
Innovative design
Apple Vision Pro builds on Apple’s innovation and experience designing high-performance products like the Mac, iPhone, and wearable devices like the Apple Watch, culminating in the most advanced personal electronics device ever. To meet ambitious goals for performance, mobility and wearability, Apple has used the most advanced materials possible.
Apple Vision Pro packs an impressive amount of technology into a compact design. A unique piece of float glass is 3D polished to create an optical surface that acts as a lens for the wide array of cameras and sensors needed to blend the physical world with digital content. The glass flows into a custom aluminum alloy frame that gently curves around the user’s face, while the modular system allows for a custom fit to accommodate a wide range of people. The light stamp is made of soft fabric, comes in a range of shapes and sizes, and flexes to conform to the user’s face for a precise fit. Elastic straps ensure the sound stays close to the user’s ears, while the headband—available in multiple sizes—is three-dimensionally knit as one piece to provide cushioning, breathability, and stretch.1 The bracelet secures with a simple mechanism, making it easy to change to another size or style of bracelet.
Unparalleled hardware innovation
Apple Vision Pro is designed to deliver exceptional computing performance in a compact, wearable form. Featuring an ultra-high-definition display system built on top of Apple’s silicon chip, the Vision Pro uses micro-OLED technology to pack 23 million pixels into two screens, each about the size of a postage stamp, with wide color and high dynamic range. This technological breakthrough, combined with custom photochromic optical lenses that enable incredible clarity and sharpness, delivers amazing experiences. Users requiring vision correction will use ZEISS optical inserts to ensure visual accuracy and eye tracking accuracy.2
An advanced spatial sound system is the foundation of the Apple Vision Pro experience, creating the feeling that sounds are coming from the environment around the user and matching the sound to the space. Two individually amplified drivers within each audio pod provide customized spatial sound based on the user’s head and ear geometry.3
In addition to creating a stunning display and advanced audio experiences, the high-performance eye-tracking system in Apple Vision Pro uses high-speed cameras and a ring of LEDs that project light patterns invisible to the user’s eyes for intuitive, responsive input.
These groundbreaking innovations are powered by Apple silicon in a unique dual-SIM design. The M2 delivers unparalleled performance, while the all-new R1 chip processes input from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones to ensure content appears to appear right in front of the user’s eyes, in real time. The R1 broadcasts new images to screens within 12 milliseconds – 8 times faster than the blink of an eye. The Apple Vision Pro is designed for all-day use when plugged in, and for up to two hours of use with its high-performance external battery.
Industry-leading privacy and security
Built on a strong foundation of privacy and security, Apple Vision Pro keeps users in control of their data.
Optic ID is a new secure authentication system that analyzes a user’s iris under various exposures to invisible LED light, then compares it to recorded Optic ID data protected by the Secure Enclave to instantly unlock Apple Vision Pro. User visual ID data is fully encrypted, cannot be accessed by apps, and never leaves their device, which means it is not stored on Apple servers.
The user remains private while on the move in Apple Vision Pro, and eye-tracking information is not shared with Apple, third-party apps, or websites. In addition, data from the camera and other sensors is processed at the system level, so individual applications do not need to see the user’s surroundings to enable spatial experiences. The EyeSight visual system also includes a visual indicator that shows others when a user has taken a spatial image or video.
