How to play Strands
New York times’ strings Puzzle game is a classic word search game. It is not available in the NYT Games app along with apps like Wordle And Links (Which we also cover in our daily guides on Forbes Games.)
There is a new game strings You can play this game every day. The game will present you with a six by eight letter grid. The goal is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you will get an idea about the theme of that group. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue.
You’ll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This will tell you what the words have in common. A spangram connects at least two sides of the board, but it may not start or end there. While the keywords wouldn’t be a special noun, a spangram can be a special noun. When you find a spangram, it will still be highlighted in yellow.
Each letter is used once in a word or crossword puzzle. You can connect letters vertically, horizontally and diagonally, and it is possible to switch directions in the middle of a word. If you are playing on a touch screen, double-tap the last letter to submit your guess.
If you find three valid words that are at least four letters long and are not part of the topic, you will be able to unlock the hint button. Clicking this button will highlight the letters that make up one of the words in the topic.
Be careful: you’ll need to be on your toes. Sometimes you’ll need to fill in missing words in a phrase. Other days, the game might revolve around synonyms or homonyms. The difficulty will vary from day to day, and the puzzle creators will try to surprise you sometimes.
