A global and globalized star, Kylian Mbappé appears as comfortable in front of international media as French journalists. An interview and airing on an American channel this Wednesday, days before France’s first match at Euro 2024, has captivated Anglo-Saxon internet users.
Kylian Mbappe looks more comfortable at a press conference or answering questions from French journalists in the mixed zone. But apparently, the Blues’ captain impresses when speaking to the international media. If his impeccable Spanish made an impression before he signed for Real Madrid, the 25-year-old striker is also delighting his Anglo-Saxon fans. In an interview with CNN at the end of May and aired by the American channel this Wednesday, the French star shone at his linguistic level.
Basically and a few days before the French team entered the field for Euro 2024 against Austria, on Monday in Düsseldorf (Germany), Kylian Mbappé was not truly revolutionary and “of course, it will be an extraordinary experience” or happy. “This is another opportunity to write the history of my country.” But the two minutes the Frenchman spoke perfect English was enough to impress.

Internet users thought they heard Drake or AI instead of Mbappé
Being purely optional, we may hear a slight French accent, but this in no way spoils the understanding of the French attacker’s words. And English-speaking internet users were stunned to discover it.
“He speaks English better than Palmer and Kane,” a fan at X comments under the CNN video. Most of the messages under the post praise the status and pronunciation of ‘kix’. Of course, speaking with a less pronounced accent than Cole Palmer and especially Harry Kane is insurmountable, but many Internet users still admire.
“I can’t tell he’s from France, he’s great English,” said another fan. A third was in the same tone: “Damn, his English is so good.”
Some commentators on social media joked that his English was so good that Kylian Mbappé couldn’t speak it.
Drake (a popular Canadian rapper, editor’s note) dubbing the video joked that there was undoubtedly an “artificial intelligence” behind the blues scorer’s flawless pronunciation.
