The photo, which Halle Berry shared with her more than 8.3 million Instagram followers, has attracted attention for all the wrong reasons.
The Oscar-winning actress, 57, was photographed in a snapshot on December 17, wearing a lace teddy bear while standing barefoot amid massive boulders in what appears to be the desert.
While the Cleveland native didn't add a geotag to the photo, she was in the Middle East last month, attending the 2023 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The photo, which received more than 148,000 likes, sparked speculation among a number of followers that the stunning star's bare feet were close to a pile of feces, the source of which also sparked controversy.
One user asked: “What kind of thing are you doing?” [feet emoji,]Another said: Am I the only one who sees feces?
Another user asked: “Literally no one sees the three giant hills of humans???” Add three poop emojis. “Seriously, why did he post that picture with *** in it?
“Haley is one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen, but this is just bullshit,” one user said.
One user raised the possibility that the fall was not from a person, but perhaps from an animal.
“How do you know he's human though?” Maybe it is some wild animal that lives among the rocks!
One user suggested that the mesmerizing photo can be salvaged with the right tools.
'Dope pic, cut.' [poo emoji] This is right in front of you in this picture!!'
One user defended Perry's posting of the photo, saying it's not clear the substance in question is what everyone thinks it is.
“Why are people so searching for negative things in this beautiful, quiet place?” said the user. 'How do you even know if this is ***??? Anyway… great picture, Mrs. Haley.'
Other fans ignored the potential act, showering the A-list actress with praise.
“I love the fact that @halleberry literally doesn't acknowledge my f***,” one user said, while another called her “still the worst after all these years.”
Perry had the last word when she responded to one of the commentators on the topic who asked her why she posted the photo.
She replied: Why not? It is what it is with four laughing emojis.
She later said the location made it unlikely the droppings were from a person: “I think it was a wild animal.” Man there's no s-tting!!!! I'm just saying.'
