GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene announced Wednesday that she will launch a motion to vacate against House Speaker Mike Johnson next week to force members to go on record — a move that comes after Democrats saidHey I'll vote to kill this effort And make sure Johnson doesn't lose his job.
“I think every member of Congress needs to take that vote and let things slide where they can, and so I will call this proposal to vacate next week. I call it an absolute call,” she said at a news conference.
“I can't wait to see Democrats come out and support a Republican president and they have to go home for a primary and run for Congress again, having supported a Republican president — a 'Christian conservative' — I think that's going to play out well,” she added. “I'm excited about that.” .
Greene blasted Johnson for about 10 minutes, objecting to his support for Ukraine aid and focusing on the recent announcement that House Democrats will vote to halt her efforts to oust him.
“Now we have (House Democratic Leader) Hakeem Jeffries and the Democrats coming out, giving Mike Johnson a warm hug and a big, wet, dirty kiss,” she said.
Greene said she had never triggered the motion before because she was “in control” and “in charge.”
“I was conscious and concerned about my conference in the majority of us. It was a warning to stop serving the Democrats, support our Republican conference, and support our agenda. And he didn't do that. “And we all went home, and Republican voters were everywhere, and Americans were angry at Mike Johnson.”
During the press conference, Greene placed a “Make Ukraine Great Again” hat over a photo of Johnson and Jeffries.
