Two years ago, Google tried to revamp the Library section of the Google Photos app, but backed away from the new design. Now, it looks like the company is trying again to redesign the Google Photos Library, but this time, it will be called “Collections.”
Google Photos will replace the Library tab with Collections
Google open Two days ago it announced that it plans to replace the Library tab in Google Photos with Collections.Find what you need faster.Although the tab uses the same logo as the Library, it provides quick access to your Favorites and Trash folders. The rest of the sections are arranged in a 2×2 grid layout based on your usage.
The existing “Photos on device” folder will be replaced with “On this device”. This folder shows you photos and videos (in grid format) saved locally on your smartphone or tablet. This may annoy some users, as accessing photos and videos stored on your device requires an extra tap.
There are additional sections called Albums, Archive, Documents, Locked, People, Recently Added, Screenshots, and Videos. There is no longer a folder called Utilities in the app. All of these utilities now have separate sections: Free up space, Import photos, Locked folder, Create new design, Manage photo frames, and Move photos to archive.
Google says the new feature will be available to most Android and iOS smartphone and tablet users in the coming days. If you don’t see the new Collections tab in the Google Photos app on your device, try installing the latest software update if it’s available on your Galaxy device.
