Global IT outages impact airlines and businesses worldwide

Massive technical outages around the world have brought IT systems to a standstill, causing delays and problems at European airports, as well as affecting other transport links.

Gatwick Airport in London The company said it was “affected by global Microsoft issues” and that passengers may experience delays in checking in and going through security.

Berlin Airport in Germany She said she was experiencing delays in check-in procedures due to a “technical glitch.”

Amsterdam Schiphol Airport KLM said the “global system failure” had affected “flights to and from Schiphol” and that the impact was “currently being mapped out”. KLM said the disruptions “make it impossible to handle flights”.

Edinburgh Airport in Scotland The company said the IT outage meant “longer than usual wait times at the airport”. It added that teams were on hand to assist as the airport worked to resolve the issues.

Spanish Airports AuthorityThe Spanish Air Navigation Authority (AENA), which oversees Madrid, Barcelona and other airports across the country, said in a post on its website that there was a “computer system incident” that “could cause delays,” adding that it was working to resolve the issues.

Prague Airport Air X said the problems affected its global check-in system, leading to flight delays.

Ryanair The company also confirmed a disruption to its airline network, and advised passengers to arrive at least three hours before the scheduled departure time.

Air France, The country’s national airline said the global IT problem had disrupted its operations – although flights already in the air were not affected.

Turkish Airlines The company said it had experienced issues with ticket booking, check-in and reservations. “Our teams are working hard to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” the company said in a statement.

Trains in the UK are also experiencing problems, with Themslinka major British Rail line, said: “Our IT teams are actively investigating to identify the root cause of the issue.”
