Giants hire former Raiders offensive line coach Carmen Brescillo

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Brian Daboll moved quickly to fill one of the vacancies on his coaching staff as he today named Carmen Brescillo as the Giants' new offensive line coach.

Bricillo is a 20-year coaching veteran, including five in the NFL. Like Daboll, he has ties to Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

Bricillo was the O-line coach for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022-23 and the Patriots the two seasons before that.

Only 11 teams allowed fewer sacks in 2023 compared to 40 teams in 2023.

In his first season with the Raiders in 2022, Bricillo led an offensive line unit that allowed just 35 sacks, tied for ninth-fewest in the NFL. Bricillo's unit also helped the Raiders offense rush for 2,059 yards, the most in a single season since 2011. The Raiders rushing was stopped for loss or no gain (NFL)-low 68 times in 2022, and Josh Jacobs led the league with 1,653 yards. .

Bricillo entered the NFL as an assistant coaching staff in 2019 before taking over as the Patriots' line coach in 2020-21. During his tenure there, the Patriots won one AFC East title and made two playoff appearances.

In 2021, Bricillo helped the Patriots finish eighth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (126.5) and sixth in points per game (27.2). Running back Damien Harris set career highs with 202 carries for 929 yards and 15 rushing touchdowns, the latter of which ranked second in the NFL and second in franchise history. The Patriots scored 24 rushing touchdowns in 2021 behind Brescello's line, a mark tied for third-most in franchise history.

Bricillo helped the Patriots finish fourth in the NFL with 146.6 yards per game in 2020, their highest average since 1983.

From 2010-18, Priscillo spent nine years coaching the offensive line at Youngstown State University. He coached 15 All-Missouri Valley Conference selections and the Penguins advanced to the 2016 NCAA FCS National Championship. His line helped set multiple school year highs during his tenure including total yards (6,766 in 2016), yards per game (458.6 in 2011 ), rushing yards (3,883 in 2016), completion percentage (64.2 percent in 2011), passing yards (2,883 in 2016), passing touchdowns (27 in 2011) and points per game (36.2 in 2011).

Prior to his time at Youngstown State, Bricillo spent the 2009 season as an offensive assistant assisting the offensive line at Illinois. Akron was director of video services in 2006 and a coaching assistant from 2007-08, when he worked at tackle and tight ends.

Priscillo began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater Duquesne as the offensive line coach in 2005.

Bricillo is a native of Shelocta, Pa. At Duquesne, he played center and earned first-team all-conference honors in 1995 and 1996. Bricillo and his wife, Megan, have a daughter, Rilyn.

Priscillo replaces Bobby Johnson, who was fired Monday after two seasons as the Giants' offensive line coach.

Daboll has several other vacancies on staff, including defensive coordinator, special teams coordinator, running backs coach, outside linebackers coach, defensive assistant and director of strength and performance.
