HBO’s comedy pilot “The Chair Company,” hosted by Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, has added five new cast members, diverse He learned exclusively.
The pilot episode will feature Lake Bell (“Harley Quinn”, “Mother Couch”), Sophia Lillis (“It”, “I Am Not Okay With This”), Will Price (“After the Hunt”, “A Complete Unknown”), Joseph Tudisco (“A Brooklyn Love Story”, “FBI”), and Lou Diamond Phillips (“Search Party”, “Easter Sunday”), with Phillips making a guest appearance while the other four will appear as series regulars, with Bell playing Barb Trosper, with Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Price as Seth Trosper, Tudisco as Mike Santini, and Phillips appearing as Jeff Levjman.
As previously announced, Robinson will star in the pilot. The official synopsis for “The Chair Company” reads: “After an embarrassing incident at work, a man finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy.”
Bell is represented by UTA, Entertainment 360 and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Lillis is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Price is represented by Buchwald and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Tudisco is represented by Prestige Management Group. Phillips is represented by Global Artists Agency and Thruline Entertainment.
In addition to starring, Robinson co-created “The Chair Company” with Zach Kanin. Both also serve as executive producers. Adam McKay and Todd Schulman will serve as executive producers via Hyperobject Industries alongside Andrew DeYoung, who will also direct the pilot. Hyperobject is currently under a TV deal with HBO.
Kanin and Robinson are frequent collaborators, beginning with their time together on the writing team of “Saturday Night Live.” They went on to create the hit Comedy Central sitcom “Detroiters” with Sam Richardson and Joe Kelly (starring Robinson and Richardson) and the Netflix comedy “I Think You Should Leave” (also starring Robinson). The latter show won the Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series in 2023, while Robinson has won the Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series twice so far.
