Families of England players targeted by projectiles after England’s final group match

England were disappointed during the group stages of Euro 2024. The Three Lions finished top of Group C but conceded two draws, giving English supporters little reassurance ahead of the round of 16. A recent match against Slovenia on the last day (0-0) led to regrettable scenes.

Targeted with plastic cups after the meeting, coach Gareth Southey was not the only target. In fact, Ezri Konsa’s area reserved for the families and friends of English players was also a scene of plastic cup throwing.

“My brother is affected and some others, explained the Aston Villa player I spoke to him, I asked him and he said he is fine”.

The latter wanted to defuse the situation by explaining that “things like this happen in football”. Ezri Konsa added: “We try not to think too much about it.” According to Daily MailRelatives of the players were not identified by supporters who were guilty of throwing plastic cups.

The Three Lions must now look forward to the Round of 16 of the Euros this Sunday (6pm) against Slovakia with a match scheduled in a very tense atmosphere.
