The original Warzone map, Verdansk, is set to return by the end of 2024, Insider Gaming has learned.
While details are still unclear on the map’s exact release date, it is understood that the current plan is to follow Warzone’s traditional ‘main map’ release schedule and have Verdansk return as part of Season 1 of Black Ops Gulf War.
If Call of Duty continues its annual trend of late October and early November releases, this suggests Verdansk is set to return in December 2024.
Call of Duty fans will be aware that Verdansk has seen many changes to its map since its original release, and has generally seen major changes during its content ‘seasons’. Due to ongoing development, it is not clear what season the map will be based on. One source noted that it will be a “fan-favorite season,” but the exact details are vague.
In November 2023, WindowsCentral reported This year’s Call of Duty will be based on the Gulf War, with Insider Gaming confirming the report and understanding the working title of the game is Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War.
The report also explained that Activision could take a slightly different approach to this year’s title, as the company is considering more incentivized pre-order bonuses. One pre-order bonus currently being explored is the idea of weeks early access to the Zombies mode, rather than the one-week early access to the campaign that we’ve seen in the past couple of years.
Following these reports, the Call of Duty Twitter account went public Charlie Intel It was revealed that Gulf War will be the first Call of Duty game to have a four-year development cycle. Since the series’ inception more than two decades ago, Call of Duty titles have been developed in between 16 months (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III) and three years.
