[CU du Grand Reims (Marne) 143 communes, 296 200 hab.] How do you say Reims in English? “Rheims”, to ask British Darren Tullett. The English journalist, football expert on Canal+, then on beIN Sports, hosted a series of three programs under the general title “Greetings from the Champagne region” in his witty way. We can translate it as “champagne greetings”.
The first part aired in November 2022 and the next two will be released this year. You can see them especially on the YouTube channel of the Grand Reims Tourist Office, on Instagram, LinkedIn, etc., or in the form of a newsletter designed for opportunities.
The training carried out by the tourist office is called “infotainment” or “infotainment”, which means a combination of information and entertainment. “We were inspired by American late shows [shows diffusés en soirée, ndlr]Like Jimmy Fallon,” notes Elisa Bremont, who is in charge of promotions and press relations at the office.

The reports and interviews in the package follow each other at a fast pace for half an hour. The presenter uses a playful and facetious tone, which gives the whole a lighthearted look. Recorded on the same day in a live setting, the three shows present champagne in all its forms, without forgetting tradition, with scratches on nature, food and local culture. For example, the first episode features a wine producer and a tour guide. Except for the three-Michelin-starred chef, all have chosen to speak their art in French, backed by English subtitles.
Inspired by webinars
These talk shows are aimed at English-speaking customers accustomed to this type of programming, whether individuals or professionals. “The first part is aimed at B to C customers, in other words, the general public, mentions Elise Bremont. The other two target B to B customers: on the one hand leisure tourism professionals – travel agencies, tour operators – on the other hand organizers of events such as conferences and seminars for business tourism. »
The mission of the Grand Reims Tourist Office, which covers the urban community and its 143 municipalities, is to “stimulate the French way of life, highlighting the concepts of welcome, hospitality and kindness embodied by the territory’s ambassadors”. The “Greetings from the Champagne region” format is inspired by the webinars that flourished during the pandemic, but with an added soul to make the whole thing more balanced.
The tourist office plans to save some trips in France and abroad, and its talk shows are broadcast on the Internet. Their lifespan and usage is approximately two years.

Basically a local team
If journalist Darren Tallett is the face of the Grand Reams talk-show project, the latter was originally conceived locally and mobilized many local resources. About ten people worked at the tourist office for months to design and develop it. The committee engaged the services of audiovisual experts nationally, but left other tasks to local actors. Especially for creating original music for the show and a film set built by a carpenter from Marne in the recording studio of a Reims agency specializing in events. The cost of the operation – about ten thousand euros per episode – was fully covered by the tourist office.
