‘Kyle is ready’ – Southgate on Walker ahead of potential Mbappe fight
Let’s take a look at A few other things Gareth Southgate said in his pre-match press conference yesterday.
First, the England boss was asked about the potential head-to-head battle between speedsters Kyle Walker and Kylian Mbappe – and whether Walker, just back from a thigh injury, would be ready to take on the France forward.
“We always wanted to give Kyle the chance to be fit for the Championship,” Southgate said. “He’s been a very important player for us over the last six years. I think we’ve worked that process really well, getting the right reintroduction for the team, in terms of minutes against Wales and 90 minutes in the last game.” , which is important for any player. So Kyle is ready.
“We are of course talking about an opponent, but we are playing against France, which is a great team. We know all of their attacking players and we know the quality of the whole team. This is what made them so strong to be able to handle the loss of some great players.
“I think that’s what Didier is [Deschamps] created. He has created a stronger team of individuals, and I would say perhaps this was not always the case, just as it was not always the case with us. So this is a great credit to him. We know we have to be at our best to win the match.”
