“Elden Ring” is getting a pre-shadow for the Erdtree patch, and here’s what’s in it

The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring will be released on June 21, but FromSoftware has just announced that the game will be getting a remake. Patch On June 20, it will add a number of features and changes to the game, including bug fixes and balance adjustments as well.

What’s inside it? Here’s a list of what we know so far:

  • New items will be marked with an exclamation mark in the inventory so you don’t have to scroll through everything every time (as shown above).
  • This will also come with a ‘Recent Items’ tab to make it easier as well, given the large amount of inventories at this point.
  • Active summon groups will be moved to NG+.
  • Individual summoning groups can now be added/disabled on the map itself, and only active groups will be selected when using the Little Golden Doll.’
  • Five new hairstyles will be added to the game which will be available during character creation, or when using the Clouded Mirror Stand or Rennala’s Rebirth.

That’s all that’s currently listed, but Balance Tweaks refer to buffs and nerfs, and it would be good to know that in advance so you can plan accordingly. But I expect we’ll get the full patch notes either closer to today, or on patch day itself. The patch will result in maintenance lasting from 7 to 10 UTC on the 20th.

There’s been a bit of buzz around the fact that Shadow of the Erdtree requires you to beat the powerful, completely optional, and difficult-to-access boss, Mohg, before you can enter the world of DLC. Only about a third of players seem to have done this, and many of them may log in and be confused about how to get into Shadow of the Erdtree. The answer will be: They will not be able to do that unless they find Muhaj and beat him. I was wondering if FromSoft would throw people a bone and at least put a waypoint in the palace or in Mohg itself, but nothing like that seems to be happening. I can’t say I’m particularly surprised, given the nature of the game and the game itself. They’ve done this before in different ways, but players should at least be aware of that.

We’ll have to look for more information later regardless of the larger patch notes. I’m surprised by the inventory changes in particular.
