Draymond Green returns from ankle injury in Warriors-Rockets game – NBC Sports Bay Area and CA

After an ankle injury sidelined Draymond Green for the Warriors’ first two games of the 2023-2024 NBA season, the veteran forward will return to the court on Sunday.

Green told reporters on Saturday that he will play his first game of the season against the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center about a month after spraining his left ankle for the first time this season. While Green said he expects to be limited to a minute, he told reporters at Saturday’s practice that he’s unsure if he’ll start or come off the bench (h/t Anthony Slater of The Athletic).

Green was cleared to participate in 5-on-5 practice last week after also missing all of the Warriors’ preseason games. The ankle injury came just before training camp, when he fell on the foot of teammate Jonathan Kuminga while going up to stop the ball during a pick-up game.

The Warriors are 1-1 without their defensive leader, falling to the Phoenix Suns in their season opener and defeating the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center on Friday night. As they continue to learn a new routine with Chris Paul on the floor, Green’s return will add a necessary element – and another piece to the Steve Kerr puzzle.
