Warner Bros. released Discovery has released a new trailer for The Penguin, the spin-off series focusing on gangster Colin Farrell from DC’s The Batman.
Set directly after the events of the 2022 blockbuster, the eight-episode series charts the character formerly known as Oswald Cobblepot and his rise to power in Gotham’s underworld to become one of the most iconic villains in the Batman universe.
Farrell is joined by Cristin Milioti as Carmine Falcone’s daughter Sofia, Michael Zegen as Carmine’s son Alberto, and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Marone, a former top mobster in Gotham. Renzi Velez, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chow, and David H. Holmes round out the cast.
Loren Lefranc (“Agents of SHIELD”) serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner of “The Penguin,” while Matt Reeves, writer and executive director of “The Batman,” is producing through his production company 6th & Idaho. Farrell, Dylan Clark, Daniel Pepski and Bill Carraro also executive produce, with Ravi Krohn co-executive producing. Executive producer Craig Zobel (“Mare of Easttown”) directed the first three episodes. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.
Production began in March 2023, but was halted in June due to Hollywood strikes, with filming resuming the week after Thanksgiving.
The Batman sequel, The Batman: Part II, has been delayed by a year and will now hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
