Dana Carvey apologizes for 1992 'Saturday Night Live' sketch in which guest Sharon Stone undressed

Times have changed, and standards of humor have evolved. thus, Saturday Night Live Star Dana Carvey apologized to Sharon Stone for the “offensive” sketch when she hosted the show in 1992.

Carvey edited it during Stone's appearance on Flying on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade Podcast.

Carvey described Stone as a “good sport” and said that if the comedy moment aired today, “we would be arrested by now”.

The drawing in question was titled Airport security fee. Karvey was an Indian security guard and was part of a security team who instructed Stone to remove her clothes in case she was carrying dangerous items.

He said: “I want to publicly apologize for the security screening scene in which I played an Indian man and we convince Sharon, or her character, or whatever, to take off her clothes in order to go through the security order.” So 1992, you know, is from another era.

Stone said she wasn't bothered by the drawing, but agreed it was created at a different time.

“I know the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony,” she said. “And I think we were all committing misdemeanors [back then] Because we didn't think anything was wrong then. We didn't have that feeling. I had much bigger problems than that, you know what I mean? It was funny to me, and I didn't care. It was nice to be the butt of the joke.

“When I was playing the Indian character… there was no malice in it,” Karvey replied. “I was really rhythmically trying to get a laugh. So I just want to say that watching it – comedy needs a straight person, and you were perfect at it. You were completely honest and you made us funny.”
